The Chambers Studios Exhibiting local artist David van Ness!
Exhibit Open - May 26 to June 17

David Michael Van Ness was born in New Jersey but spent most of his life growing up and going to school in Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from East Stroudsburg University in 1999, but his path as an artist started long before that. David jokes he became an artist because “it was the only thing I was good at.” For the past 15 years, David has explored his fascination with unusual variations in colors by applying paint to canvas. His topics are drawn from nature, from people, and from his own psyche. But about David’s subject of choice – nudes, he says “I am passionate about portraying the beauty already existing in every woman in a way that people might not otherwise experience.”. His art attempts to show things in the manner he sees them, regardless of how distorted that might seem. In carrying that out David uses unusual variations in colors, shapes, lines and sometimes even textures. Another of the artist’s common subjects are eyes. “I like carrying the old adage ‘eyes are the windows to the soul’ in different directions.” he says. The piece ‘Jealousy’ exemplifies this - the slight green of the eye, the various faces one finds looking at it in different ways. Recently moving back to his home state of New Jersey, David returns to Pennsylvania with this show, inviting you to view the world through his eyes and find a beauty you may not have seen before.

"If this is a test of my abilities, the gods have no sense of proportion"

Philadelphia Health Management Corporation and Mazzoni Center have come together to create an exciting new HIV prevention media campaign for young men ages 15-29, who live in the Phila. metro area. We want the media to be relevant so we are holding several small group (8-10 men) rap sessions this month to talk to men about what is going on in the scenes they are a part of. We're paying $30 for 2 hrs.

Hi.
I am on the hunt for a good therapist in the NEPA area for gender dysmorphia/transgender clients. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, please post here or email me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not having much luck besides some telephone therapy (http://www.tdjgroup.com/) located in Morristown, NJ. The whole telephone thing is good for confidentiality but I think this is sort of a last resort help line kind of thing. It also makes me think you'll be talking to someone who is NOT an actual therapist but someone with some sort of "caller script" set in front of them. Who knows... the research continues.

Aside from our normally scheduled school night shenanigans we will be doing some fundraisers to benefit the Hurricane Katrina victims.

We will have a 50/50, as well as some other fabulous ways to help those in need.

Please bring any canned goods or supplies you would like to donate and they will be sent to the LEATHER TRIBE Based RELIEF FUND to be distributed.

As always WET is the the Pit of The Bike Stop the first Friday of every month from 7 till 11.

With Love in Leather,
