And about that dorktease: what nerdiliscious components will they incorporate: a Harry Potter theme? A tribute to condiments? Scuba diving? Guaranteed to be so NOT sexy it's almost sexy. Almost.  More info on our main site.

Subject:Please take this survey to help other lesbian moms!
Security:Public

My name is Sequoia and I am a graduate student in Counseling Psych and a lesbian. As part of a GLBT course I am researching lesbian parenting; both so that I can help lesbian couples as a counselor, and in preparation of my own parenting goals eventually. I want to include some women’s voices as part of my paper so that it is not just about dry research. I am collecting these perspectives through an online survey, and then I will include snippets in my paper. Everything will be anonymous and only used in this paper.

Here is the link to the survey: http://tinyurl.com/yfz4e3h

This survey is to get personalized, subjective opinions and experiences about the decision-making and interpersonal process of lesbian couples who became planned parents through donor insemination.

To complete this survey, please make sure that you match the following criteria:

  • you identify as a woman-who-loves-exclusively-women, regardless of the term you choose to use.
  • you and another woman decided to become parents through using donor insemination (not adoption, not from previous relationship, etc) such that either you or your partner became pregnant and the intention is to raise the child together as co-mothers.

Feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you feel comfortable, with as much or little detail as you like.

This survey will be used in a graduate counseling paper, not in formal research. The results will all be anonymous.

Thank you so much for your participation and your inspiration!

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young.  GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at:  www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the United States.

Subject:Almost Pretty, But Can She Curtsy: Kelli Dunham Comedy June 7th in Philly
Security:Public

Hey Philly folks

Since you last saw Kelli Dunham, everyone’s favorite ex-nun nerd genderqueer comic, she:

-Appeared on the Discovery Channel while kissing a straight dude (okay c’mon now, not on the lips!)
-Learned how to curtsy
-Accidentally gave a lapdance to a tourist from Sweden (New York subways ARE crowded)
-Appeared in the pages of Curve Magazine
-Recorded her second live comedy show from the historic Stonewall Inn to a sold out crowd.

Now she’s coming back to Philly…
Saturday, June 7th,  (pride eve) at 8 PM at everyone’s favorite fair trade, accessible, all ages venue, JOE COFFEE, 1100 Walnut Street in Philly. It’s just a mere 8 bucks to get in and the time was chosen specifically so folks could get to the dyke march and grab dinner beforehand if that’s what pleases you.

This show is the first stop on Kelli’s Almost Pretty (Almost) Fifty States Tour and will  be Kelli’s only full length show in Philly this year!

Subject:GLBT Hike!
Security:Public

Hello boys and girls,
It's that time of the month again for a journey into the woods. This month we will be checking out High Point State Park. I'd like to suggest that we meet at the visitor center. We will probably be taking the 3.5 mile Monument Trail but I'd like to pick up the trail description map at the visitor center before we head out.

Here's the google map to get there (I suggest copying the entire URL into your browswer window):
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&formtype=search&countryid=250&addtohistory=&country=US&address=1480+State+Rt+23&city=Sussex&state=NJ&zoom=6

Other information on the park can be found at:
http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/highpoint.html#high

http://www.njskylands.com/pkhighpt.htm

After the hike, we'll probably see if everyone wants to go have lunch.

Since I'm not sure of the park's policy on pets, I'd like to suggest we all leave the critters at home this time. It's also going to be a warm day to leave them in the car for lunch.

Everyone wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing. And make sure you bring water to drink. Everyone hikes at their own risk so be careful.

I'm looking forward to our hike. If you have questions, email me: dawnmariemartha@yahoo.com

Now open for support, </a></b></a>queercancercare, a livejournal community for queer caregivers of folks with cancer.

You might be a queer caregiver of a person with cancer if...

You've had to explain to emergency room personnel that no, you're not sisters, but yes you are family.
You've been tempted to write a love song for Zofran.
You've overheard your parents tell their neighbors "oh she's just a little upset because her room-mate has cancer."
You're afraid that if one more person asks "what are you doing to take care of YOURSELF" you might commit an act of violence.
You've been ever been mistaken for "the one with cancer" because people think your extremely short haircut looks like you are post-chemo.
You've screamed "of course he's on a lot of narcotics. He has cancer!"

This community is for all queer caregivers of folks with cancer...whether that person is your spouse, partner, mistress, best friend, shortstop on your softball team, parent, child, however you define family.

The idea is to share strength, support, ideas, resources and a listening ear.

Hi, I'm posting here because it is glbtq related and I feel strongly that your input can really make a difference. However, if it is not in alignment with the essence of this community, please feel free to release this post.

I want to introduce a brand-new homo/bi/t friendly community: happy_gay_life

This is a community dedicated to building a positive glbtq image by sharing joyful and constructive experiences of being glbtq.

Have you ever been to a place you've never been before but the people you meet, the things you see feel so familiar as if you've known each other for a long long time?

This is such a magical place where we meet in the secret garden of our hearts, where we connect together as Rainbow brothers and sisters to celebrate our blessings and share these special moments when our hearts say a resonant "yes!" to life.

Every time we share a line of joy, we're contributing to building a positive glbtq image and creating a better life for ourselves.

Come! Join us and have some fun!

This is a community dedicated to building a positive homo/bi image by sharing joyful and uplifting experiences of being homo/bi.

Ever wonder why there are so few homo/bi stories/movies with happy endings? I did.

I figure out that it has to come from us. We've got to count our blessings and share these lovely moments with each other: the special moments that bring smiles to our faces, that make our hearts sing, that tickle us, that move us to tears of joy ... on a daily basis.

Every time you share a line of joy, you're contributing to building a positive homo/bi image.
